GoAERO - Stage 2
Project type
EFRC Project
Date
Spring - Fall 2025
Location
Daytona Beach, FL, USA
At the Eagle Flight Research Center, I lead propulsion system design and performance optimization for our VTOL aircraft developed for emergency rescue missions. My work includes:
Designing the propulsion architecture, selecting components, and optimizing performance for mission‑critical reliability
Integrating avionics and propulsion systems through simulation, analysis, and hands‑on testing
Leading manufacturing engineering efforts, resolving assembly challenges, and implementing collaborative solutions
Creating detailed 3D models and engineering drawings in CATIA for propulsion and structural assemblies
Analyzing system performance using induced‑power reduction and power‑reduction methods to refine efficiency
These efforts support Team Talon, our entry in the GoAERO competition. After completing a full design cycle and submitting our Stage 1 engineering report, we have now successfully completed Stage 2, which focused on building and testing a 40%‑scale demonstrator. This phase allowed us to refine performance, validate reliability, and advance system‑level integration through real‑world testing.
From concept to creation, Talon represents our commitment to pushing the boundaries of autonomy‑enabled emergency response aviation.
With Stage 2 behind us, we’re continuing to drive this vision forward.
